Diesel Traders is the 5th child of devoted family man and automotive engineer Bill Koncz. It is the product of Bill’s lifetime of hard work and experience in the industry.
Born in Hungary, Bill & his family fell victim to the Hungarian revolution of 1956. As a young child Bill was raised across various European borders, until at age 14 he was moved to Australia & finally found home. Working full time during the day as a mechanic and studying engineering at night, he attained the certificate of Automotive Engineering with distinction. To top it off, he was granted a Merit Award for his achievement of honours, coming first in N.S.W for his studies.
Bill made his debut in 1976 as a Sales Engineer at Perkins Engines NSW for automotive, industrial and marine diesel engines. He progressed to various marine mechanic roles around the Sydney waterfront, until he was offered a position as Sales Engineer for a Sydney based Ford industrial and marine engine Dealership. His years of experience & knowledge rapidly led him to the executive role of NSW Sales Manager in 1984.
In 1988, the opportunity arose for Bill to finally open his own business in the industry he knew so well. And so, a prodigy was born: Diesel Traders. Initially, the business retailed a range of diesel engines, marine and industrial engines and engine drive packages, then later started to import used engines. It gradually evolved to import quality used small tractors from Japan, which to this day remains a specialty of the company.
Today, Diesel Traders has expanded to import a wide range of Chinese implements, which is just an addition to our own product manufacturing. We can supply a diverse range of implements both for your tractor and your budget: slashers, post hole diggers, rippers, grader blades & loaders. Importantly, Bill has networked with his suppliers in China to educate them on the specific needs of the Australian tractor-owner. They have since implemented some of his ideas so their product is particularly well suited to the needs of our valued customers.
To expand on the range of tractors, Diesel Traders was appointed a dealer for Daedong Tractors in 2005. This extended the tractor range from 20 to 90 hp in new machines, and filled an obvious gap in the range. The Daedong - a major player in tractor industry, both locally and worldwide - have an excellent product that continues to hold a major share of the tractor market. So these days, Diesel Traders is known & respected in the industry to be a supplier of quality, affordable new & used tractors and implements.
In fact we believe the only thing better than our products is the service provided by our team. Although only small, the team at Diesel Traders is made up of talented mechanics, welders and painters, preparing used tractors for sale and manufacturing implements to the highest of standards. Most of the staff have worked with Bill for many years, and have an excellent understanding of the products with which we work. In 2008, Diesel Traders will be celebrating 20 years in business, and our future is looking strong. Whether it’s a tractor, an implement or a service or repair job, it’s reassuring to know you can call on us, Diesel Traders, for all your tractor needs.
